Playing Up Protocol FALL

As a general rule, HAYSA does not support a player playing on a soccer team above his or her age appropriate placement.

Any player wishing to attempt to play-up must first apply to the HAYSA Board to obtain approval to do so. Simply send an email to board@haysa.org with your request. The only exception to this rule occurs when a player does not have an age appropriate team on which to play. Permission is automatically granted to a player to tryout for the next higher age placement in this instance.

Both the player and his or her family must desire to play up. HAYSA will not force any player to play up against his or her desires.

All players who have applied to play up must attend a walk up registration in order to be evaluated. If the player did not attend one of the walk up registrations then the player must play with their age appropriate team for a minimum of the 1st week of the Fall Season. They will be evaluated by the Age Group Coordinator, Registrar and their coach who will make their recommendation to the HAYSA Board. The only exception to this is if it was the recommendation of the age group coordinator or Registrar that precipitated the request.

As a general rule, HAYSA does not support a player playing on a soccer team above his or her age appropriate placement.

Any player wishing to attempt to play-up must first apply to the HAYSA Board to obtain approval to do so. The only exception to this rule occurs when a player does not have an age appropriate team on which to play, or if it was the recommendation of the age group coordinator or Registrar that precipitated the request.

Both the player and his or her family must desire to play up. HAYSA will not force any player to play up against his or her desires.

All players must tryout with their age appropriate team prior to attending any older age level tryout. IF the player has no age appropriate team tryout to attend, said player should tryout at the next age level available.

In order to earn a position on an older age level team, the player must rank within the top 7, 9, or 11 players (depending on how many players start on the field at the age group) at the older age tryout. Essentially, their ability must warrant a starting position on the older age team or they must remain in their own age group.
