🚀 Travel Tryouts & Team Formation
HAYSA’s travel program is designed to place players on teams that best match their skill level and developmental needs, while fostering a positive and inclusive soccer experience.
🧭 Who Oversees Tryouts?
- The Travel Director and board of directors coordinate all tryout logistics, including scheduling, format, and staffing.
- Final team placements are based on player evaluations conducted during tryouts and prior seasons.
- The HAYSA President reserves the right to adjust team placements if necessary, with the final say on roster decisions.
📋 Team Formation Guidelines
- No player will be cut to make room for a younger player moving up an age group.
- Players may only move up an age group in the Spring season if requested and approved by the Board of Directors — this is extremely rare.
- No player will be cut after November 15 to accommodate someone who did not attend tryouts.
- We make every effort not to cut players in grades 3–6. If registration numbers and league roster limits allow, we will create multiple teams to ensure participation.
⚖️ Evaluation & Development
Team placement is based on a combination of tryout performance, coach feedback, and prior season evaluations. Our goal is to:
- Place players where they’ll be challenged and supported
- Ensure balanced teams across divisions
- Provide additional development opportunities when needed
