🧭 Expectations for Parents & Players
Welcome to HAYSA! Below are the key expectations and guidelines that help ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all players, families, and volunteers. Please review each section carefully.
⚽ Uniforms & Equipment
- No cutoffs, jams, or visible boxer shorts.
- Sweats, spandex, etc., allowed only for weather or medical reasons.
- NO JEWELRY — including earrings. Must be removed (not covered). Holes may be taped after removal. Medical bracelets must be taped over.
- No hard casts or splints. Knee/elbow braces must be padded.
- Shin guards are mandatory and must be covered by socks or sweatpants.
👨👩👧 Parental Responsibilities
- Coaches are not responsible for children before or after practice. Please arrive at least 5 minutes early for pickup.
- No emergency facilities are available at fields. Parents must be present in case of emergencies.
- Keep children off goals and nets — they can tip over and cause injury. Nets are fragile and costly to replace.
- Watch small children during games. Siblings should stay with parents and off the field. Volunteers and coaches are not responsible for supervising them.
🎯 General Expectations
- Be respectful to coaches, referees, and other families — on and off the field.
- Encourage effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship over winning.
- Model positive behavior — players reflect what they see from adults.
- Stay informed — check schedules, emails, and team updates regularly.
- Players should arrive on time, ready to play, and with proper gear.
- Parents should communicate any absences or concerns with coaches in advance.
HAYSA is a community-driven program — your attitude and involvement shape the experience for everyone.
🧩 Team Placement
Team placement may change between fall and spring. Factors include:
- Number of players in each age group
- Player skill bracket adjustments
- New players or seasonal-only players
Please respect that HAYSA does its best to place players appropriately each season.
🌱 Field Care & Safety
- Use trash cans — bottles and litter are hazardous and hinder field maintenance.
- No dogs at the fields — for safety and turf protection.
🙌 Game Day Spectator Guidelines
- Sit at least 3 feet from sidelines to allow space for play and keep children off the field.
- Cheer, don’t coach. Let players make decisions — coaches guide during practice and breaks.
- Applaud good play from both teams. Sportsmanship matters!
- Support referees — even if you disagree. Only speak to them to report injuries.
The South Shore Soccer League enforces a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for spectator dissent or abuse. Coaches are responsible for managing sideline behavior.
