🌤️ Weather Policy & Field Status

We know how unpredictable New England weather can be — and we do our best to keep families informed while maximizing play time. Here's how we handle weather-related decisions:

📢 How to Stay Informed

  • Check the HAYSA homepage for real-time field status updates
  • We’ll send email and/or text alerts if sessions are cancelled
  • Decisions may be made on-site if conditions change rapidly

⏳ Our Approach to Weather

  • We try to play through light rain or cold when safe — especially for older age groups
  • Younger divisions may be cancelled more readily for comfort and safety
  • Thunder or lightning = automatic cancellation or delay
  • Make-up sessions are difficult to schedule, so we aim to play when possible

⚡ Lightning Safety Protocol

  • All players, coaches, and spectators must leave the field immediately if lightning is seen or thunder is heard
  • Play may only resume after 30 minutes without lightning
  • This policy follows Mass Youth Soccer safety guidelines

💬 If you're ever unsure, check the homepage or reach out to your coach or Rec Director or Travel Director. We’ll always prioritize safety while doing our best to keep kids playing.
